The Styles of Old & New World Cabernet Sauvignon

A double vertical tasting of some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon of Bordeaux and Napa Valley.

As usual tasting will be held at my house.   Tasting will be limited to 14 persons.

Date: Sat. May 10th. Time: 2pm   Cost: $85 per person. Tasting over $1,500 worth of wine. As always gourmet snacks prepared by Valerie.

The group divided their preferences between new and old world. I personally prefered 4 out of 6 new world. My picks for the three most outstanding wines were: 1, 2005 Chateau Lagrange, 2, 2005 Far Neinte, 3, 2009 Far Neinte, in that order. I don't know if it proved anything but it was a great tasting.

We tasted 6 vintages of the world famous Chateau Lagrange, of St. Julien, Haut Medoc, Bordeaux. Listed as a 3rd growth in 1855. Also we will taste 6 vintages of the equally famous Far Niente, of Oakville, Napa Valley. Established also in 1855. We compared each vintage side by side.
