Fine Wine Dinner

(June 3, 2016)

Val & I celebrated life with good friends (Lisa & Mark Cantrell). We celebrated with a great meal and some amazing wines. The hors d'oeuvres were paired with a 2006 Iron Horse Rose. The entree of filet mignon and potatoes and veggies smothered in mushrooms and truffle oil. I paired it with a 1997 Penfolds "Grange". I had tried this wine two years earlier and said it was the finest syrah I had ever tasted. I still have not changed my mind. Finally the desserts were paired with a 1977 Graham's Vintage Port. At 39 years old it was drinking perfectly. Mark used the Port Tongs and the torch, Lisa decanted. I just checked, not a drop leftover.

After the torch, port tongs and the ice cube, this is what our 1977 Grahams looked like.
